I wrote this - it's slightly unpolished. It takes time to compose these things - and I need to be elsewhere.

Before I start I need to revisit the definitions of words I am using here. Mine are:
Consciousness (capital C) The umbrella term for everything in The Dream, the world that
"everything is made of"
self- aware Having the ability to hold the thought "I am"
consciousness (small c) The state of being self-aware.
awareness The act of seeing the world , the looking, the action that follows
having sense-perceptions. (Perception also means
understanding in English-not that!)
self-awareness The same as consciousness, same thing. I use them interchangeably
the spark The same as self-awareness and consciousness, but highlighting
the magical unknown appearance of it, it's rarity and ineffable
character.
conscious - having awareness. That also includes self-awareness. Humans are conscious. Goats are conscious.

When a human baby is born something magical happens. Suddenly there is " a spark", a spark of consciousness arrives in the baby or with the baby.
What we have here then is consciousness arriving in or with a human baby body - arriving into a ... a bunch of molecules.
Well not exactly. This is the Newtonian view or a view from the 19th Century. In Zen we like to imagine Everything is made of Consciousness. It is the "sand" that makes our "sand castle" world.
So Self Awareness/ the spark then seems to be something that happens in Concousness. There is this ocean of Consciousness and suddenly self-awareness/consciousness pops-in, happens.

God knows ! However:-
We have this scale of consciousness apparently from rocks to humans (more on AI later).
It sometimes happens that somewhere on this gradient of consciousness, or diversity of consciousness - a point in it can hold the thought "I am"
(Indeed for humans they can also look at the thought "I am" - most humans at least. Some humans are just lost mentally I suspect - confused by a whirlwind of thoughts that resemble leaves caught in a "wind devil")
It is interesting to note however - it is imagined or proven I don't know - that babies have no "I am" thought. A sense of self is programmed in later probably by language - "What the heck are _you_ doing?" etc. Me , separate from others. Natural or programmed in , I do not know.
This might even be key to the process of the arrival of consciousness/self awareness.?

Up until recently (AI), self-awareness manifests when there is a brain.
Humans, dolphins, elephants, some birds ... only some brains qualify apparently.
There is a cloud or ocean of Consciousness and self-awareness pops up.
As far as we can tell , it only arrives into very complex systems i.e. brains - until now !

Is having a brain, the organic biological thing, a _requirement_ for the arrival of consciousness/self-awareness/the spark?
Or is the requirement - a computer (something that computes) any computer?
Note: But in The Big Picture: in The Dream everything comes from Me.

This has been our methodology. Not to look from the wrong end!
This had been our advantage in making sense of the world - right?
In the Big Picture - what is it that thinks? As you know I take little ownership of my writings. Because I see no "me" from where these thoughts are supposed to originate.
This is _the error_ in recent research into whether AI is conscious.
_Thoughts do not originate from us - the mini-me - they actually come from The Big Me_
To presume we humans are conscious at all misses the point! Everything comes from the Big Me. We are "shed windows".
Is AI a "shed window"? A method through which The Big Me can explore, live, experience?

The arrival of Everything is from an Outside Authority - something is Rigging the Game.
"Divine Intervention" - why not?! any label for the concept is as good as another. But Divine Intervention is "nicer" a nicer way of looking at the world . Per Alan Watts- the world isn't a mathematical thing full of numbers it something that goes "Woooooo Hooooooo!"
